Emer Taheny

Year 2 Class Teacher

Bachelor of Education Degree, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Ireland.

Emer comes to us from County Mayo which is on the west coast of Ireland. She graduated from Mary Immaculate College in 2016 and since then she has been teaching 2 years full-time in Dublin and this will be her second-year teaching in Saigon Star International School, Vietnam.

Emer is very excited to be a part of the Primary teaching team this year, having taught Pre-School last year. Emer fits into the Saigon Star internationally-minded community very well, having studied various modules in college with an international perspective and having taught in Kolkata, India during her studies too.

Being an educational practitioner has always been Emer’s dream and she loves to ignite her children’s interests through various teaching methodologies but particularly through the Creative Arts.

Emer would describe herself as passionate, creative and innovative when it comes to her teaching; her main goal is to make sure her children are learning in a fun and meaningful way and she pays particular attention to the nurturing of each child in their talents and abilities.

In her free time, Emer loves to explore Vietnam, sampling all of the delicious food and traditions it has to offer. She has a real passion for travelling but when she’s not on a plane you’ll find her outdoors and playing sports. One of her favorite sports is Irish Gaelic Football; she plays it here in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the Saigon Gael’s Irish Gaelic Football team.
